Meet the Coach

Joining Hands Coaching is operated by life success and relationship coach Michael Schreiber. Michael holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University in biomedical science, and, when he is not coaching, also works as a freelance medical communications consultant (www.schreibermedical.com).

During his time working as a communications consultant, Michael realized the part of his job he enjoyed most was listening to others and helping people connect with and understand each other.

As well, Michael realized that he wanted to be the knowledgeable, non-judgmental, out-and-proud mentor that he never had when on his own journey to overcome internalized gay shame and achieve self-mastery.

With this idea in mind, Michael studied to become a Certified Professional Coach and Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner at the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and founded Joining Hands Coaching.

As a coach, Michael has helped many individuals find their way in the ethical non-monogamy,  polyamory, and LGBT communities, and he particularly enjoys working with individuals, couples, and groups from these communities who are looking to improve their satisfaction with the direction of their lives and of their relationships.

Michael isn't just a coach; he is a passionate member of these communities and truly understands what it is like to face some of the difficult emotions associated with leading a non-traditional lifestyle.

Coaching Methodology

For inspiration in his coaching methodology, Michael draws on the non-violent communication teachings of Marshall Rosenberg, the Energy Leadership system developed by Bruce D. Schneider, the scholarship of Joseph Campbell, the Stoic philosophy and mindfulness practices of Seneca and Marcus Aurelius, the productivity wisdom of David Allen, and many contemporary Buddhist teachings, as well as contemporary therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Michael is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) and COR.E Leadership Dynamics Specialist (CLDS), as well as an Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner (ELI-MP), through the International Coaching Federation-accredited Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC).
